Monday, 11/30/2020 - SAU29 Covid-19 Update

November 30

Good Afternoon,

I hope that everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving break!  It was nice of the weather to cooperate and expand the ability to be outside for longer periods of time as well.

Today we started the remote learning period for all of our schools with the intention of returning to onsite learning after the holiday break on January 4th.  Our staff have been busy winding up the final onsite days last week and preparing for today’s launch into remote teaching and learning.  There have been a lot of messages that have come out to ensure that everyone has all of the information that is relevant for their student(s) from individual schools and specific teachers.  If there is any question on what your student(s) daily schedule is, or you are uncertain about expectations, please contact your child(ren)’s teacher, principal or counselor immediately.  We all want to clear up any confusion that may exist and your feedback will help in that effort.

Some specific updates below to draw your attention to include:

  • Covid-19 Data:  The community transmission report that has been provided was relocated below with the other data sets.
  • E-Flyers:  Flyers that have been approved are posted for your consideration.
  • Meals:  The procedures for the continuation of meals for all SAU 29 students.
  • Screening Assessment:  Although remote, we are requesting continuation of using the screening assessment.
  • Technology:  Gentle reminder about email scams and phishing attempts.

Going to launch a new student challenge this week.  It’ll be open until December 9th in order to give us enough time to compile and share with the December 14th update.  Our students have sent in a number of outstanding responses with challenges during the spring and I’m certain that this will have its share of great input.  See below for details and to share with your student(s).

That should just about do it for now.  I know you’ve likely been overwhelmed with emails and messages over the last week, so this was deliberately kept on the short side of things.  We will continue to communicate information so that everyone is informed from my office, your child(ren)’s school, and from our amazing staff!  We have 15 total school days until the holiday break.  We will diligently be monitoring the state and county data throughout this time (and beyond).  And I know, although it may be difficult at times, that we will most definitely get through this!  Please continue to stay safe.

Be Well,

Robb

Student Challenge:  2020 has taught us a number of things about ourselves and about life in general.  We have all been tested in ways that we never have before.  The challenge to each of our students is to:

  1. Share what you learned either about yourself or life in general during 2020.
  2. Share what you most look forward to in 2021.

Please, no personal attacks on any person or people, try to think of something positive you have learned.  Submit your responses by 5pm on Wednesday, December 9th to feedback@sau29.org.  Before you do, check with your parents/guardians so they know what you are submitting as well.

We will share responses anonymously for others to reflect on as we head into the holiday break and bring 2020 to an end.
