Monday, 3/30/2020 - SAU29 COVID-19 Update

Good Afternoon,

Well I do hope that everyone was able to enjoy a little time outdoors over the least on Saturday.  The forecast is showing high 40’s/low 50’s for the week ahead, but as we know, that is subject to change as things move forward.

Today we issue our daily update without including the recurring information that has been included on past updates.  You can always access those updates by visiting SAU 29 News.  You’ll also notice below that we have started a platform for people to connect remotely.  We ask that you are mindful of posting appropriately and constructively.

With the extension of remote learning to at least May 4th, there are a number of issues that we will need to start considering.  I ask that you continue to exercise the patience that you have demonstrated through this and trust that we will be working on addressing all  of the issues that have been submitted to building Principals as well as to the central office Administrators.

Lastly, as the Governor has issued the Stay at Home Order last week, all of our playgrounds, fields and outdoor facilities are closed as of today, March 30, 2020 until further notice.  I’m sure you can understand why such an action had to be initiated as our school buildings are also closed to the public as well.  Thank you for that understanding.

Please continue to reach out with your concerns.  I remain confident that we will all get through this together.  We are still very much adjusting to things and when we settle in a little more, things will seem a little more manageable.  Stay positive, stay calm, WE GOT THIS!

Be Well,

Remote Learning:

The Virtual Learning Academy Charter School (VLACS) is offering free webinars for those that would like to participate in them.  They are opening up a number of time slots for their “Tips for Parents of Remote Learners” presentation.  Below is a link with dates and times for this webinar along with the associated slide deck used in the presentation.  Please feel free to use this resource as you see fit.

Standardized Testing:

The NHDOE has submitted a waiver for the spring testing that occurs annually.  We are waiting for a decision to be made on that waiver.

We have started a temporary Facebook group called "SAU29 Learns Remotely" where families and teachers can post their work and where we can support each other through this phase. Our hope is for this to be a place where we can continue to build close relationships with our community.

Special Education:

As we begin week 2 of remote instruction, the Special Education Department continues to learn and make adjustments on improving specialized instruction.  As a whole, the Student Services Department is striving for consistent engagement and instructional inclusivity for all students and especially those with disabilities.  As always, please contact your Special Educator/Case Manager with any concerns or challenges you are having with remote learning.  We want to hear from you.  Thank you!
