Yesterday, the Governor alluded to the unlikeliness of returning to school for the remainder of this school year. To be clear, I am not aware of any decision or order that has been issued regarding those comments and have double checked with my colleagues around the state. The comments that were made resulted in increased uncertainty and anxiety for many people within our community as well as around the entire state because it is still “up in the air.” It is expected that the Governor will make that decision and announcement before this week comes to an end. As always, I am committed to bringing you the factual information that I have available at the time we send out this update.
I also want to stress that those comments do not mean that the school year will just suddenly end, which is why we have published the revised school calendars for the 2019-2020 school year (see link below that includes the 2020-2021 calendars as well). Depending on what school/district we’re talking about, we are looking at 42-44 school days left in this school year. We will continue to work with the amazing staff that we have in our districts to make this the best possible situation we can for all of our students. Folks have been incredibly patient throughout this current situation and I can’t express enough how grateful I am for that patience. It is increasingly difficult for all of us to continue to wonder when this will be all over. I wish I had that answer for you, but I don’t. Please know that I (as well as all of our staff) share in the frustration of not knowing when the end will be here.
However, our communities continue to be fantastic and really shine when called to action! In roughly 24 hours we have received nearly 600 responses to the latest survey we have asked for input. Truly impressive and phenomenal how ready everyone is to offer their input and provide their perspective. Thank you to all that have participated and to those that will before we close that survey tomorrow. Please see the details below on how to participate so that your input is included.
Yesterday, I reminded people about the SAU 29 Learns Remotely Facebook Page that was started. We are creeping up on 1,000 members that are a part of this group and many people have posted and commented for the benefit of all that are following the page. As a result, I am sharing a brief remote learning video that was created from the posts for all to enjoy. I hope that this video brings a smile to your face, even if it’s only for a moment!

Remote Learning: If you are experiencing any difficulties with your child’s remote learning or have questions regarding what is expected, please start by asking your child’s teacher. Our teachers are doing a GREAT job of continuing the teaching and learning process through these adverse circumstances and can provide immediate answers or direct your questions accordingly.
Communications Survey: In order to best meet the needs of the majority of our stakeholders, we have created this brief survey for your consideration. Student Challenge: Submissions have started rolling in….THANK YOU!!!!!
For this week, I’m issuing a call to all students to send me their favorite thing to either make or to eat. If you can, include a recipe to share and a photo of the dish you created. Submissions could be a breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, appetizer, soup, or whatever you’d like to submit. It may take a little longer, but what I’d like to do when this week is over is create a cookbook of sorts for all to use as they see fit. I may be biting off more than I can chew with this one, but like I said, I like to eat!

Mental Health: As always, please reach out to your child’s team of school counselors or school nurses if you need support or assistance during this challenging time. Special Education: The special education and related services staff continue to provide specialized instruction and related therapies from a distance. In addition, the paraprofessionals, across all seven school districts, continue their important work of assisting and supporting online instruction. Tutors continue to engage in highly applicable professional development, led by Assistant Superintendents Dorothy Frazier and Brian Campbell. Lastly, the special education department is moving forward with the daily business of Individualized Education Plan Meetings (IEP), transition meetings and Extended School Year Services meeting (ESY) for those students that qualify. Meals: The order form for meal pick up in the towns is now open for meal pick up Monday April 20th and Wednesday April 22nd. Orders MUST be submitted no later than Thursday, April 16th at 5pm. Please use this meal order form link to place your order.
Meal pick up for Keene is behind Franklin and Keene High School On Mondays and Wednesday from 7:30-11:30am. No preorder is required
Monday you will receive 2 days worth of meals. Wednesday you will receive 3 days worth of meals.

Vetted APPs and Websites: You can check the online vetted site here: SDPC. Look up the App and website by company. We have added more to the list as we get them back from the Vetting team.
School Buildings: Building hours are 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for staff only. All buildings are closed on the weekend.
School Grounds: All school playgrounds, fields, and other outdoor facilities are closed until further notice.
Social Distancing: Please refer to Governor Sununu’s Emergency Order 17 for additional guidance.
