Recent Passing of Former KHS Principal, Charlie Burns

Mr. Burns served as principal of Keene High School for 18 years, taking the helm in 1964. Prior to entering administration Mr. Burns taught physics at KHS. Mr Burns left an indelible mark on Keene High School during his tenure, most notably he led the charge to bring a vocational center to Keene with KHS being the first school in the state to receive funding to build a vocational center then known as the Cheshire Center for Applied Science and Technology. The Center, now called the Cheshire Career Center, continues to prepare students for career pathways in business and industry. Mr. Burns touched the lives of many students, staff and families during his career here in Keene.

On behalf of the students, staff and school board members of SAU 29, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, former students and colleagues of Mr. Burns. His legacy will live on through the far-reaching impact he had on the lives of the students in his care.
